Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 109749
Entering dates in table cells autoformats them with no notification
Last modified: 2010-03-02 20:24:05 UTC
When a date is entered in a table cell, in any common format, and then the table cell is left by the cursor, the cell content is reformatted to a DD/MM/YY format. No notification (of the corner 'pop-up' kind that I might expect for other autoformatting) appears, whatsoever. There is no option I can find to disable this 'feature' by browsing the application, help pages, or the internet. To be specific, at least all the following strings are replaced by '01/12/98': 1 December 1998 December 1998 Dec 98 Dec. 98 This is obviously undesirable behaviour: 1. This is not Calc; table cells should not have a distinction between data structure and data representation (if this is what is happening). 2. No-one making the effort to type '1 December 1998' is going to want it replaced by '01/12/98'. 3. The user should be notified of auto-replacement and have the option to switch it off.
Duplicate. To avoid the AutoFormat uncheck the Number recognition entry in the table context menu. *** This issue has been marked as a duplicate of 15765 ***
