Description newbeewan 2009-12-10 18:02:10 UTC
Hi !

I'm using openoffice on Debian testing (i386, 32bit, kde4, kernel 2.6.31).

There are big trouble in the slide sorter of openoffice impress !

If I try to select some slides with ctrl key to select only some slide, the
selection start be completly erratic (changing selection at each mouse click,
deselect selected slide, re-select it, select a group of unselected slides...) !!!

That make the slide sorter unusable !

Thanks to take care of that, it is a old bug (since the 3.0 for me), but it is
the first time I report it...

With an own new simple presentation (14 sheets, each containing only sheet No. as
text)and "Ooo 3.1.1 WIN XP DE-multilingual version German UI activated
[OOO310m19 (Build 9420)]"! I was not able to reproduce any problems.
But with an other presentation with 40 sheets containing private digicam
pictures it seems that I can confirm those problems, it's even impossible to
select a single slide reliably. But I don't want to attach those 50MB as test kit.

@newbeewan
an you attach a sample file?

I was not able to reproduce problem with this sample document
Comment 3 wolframgarten 2009-12-11 08:31:53 UTC
Reproducible. Reassigned.
Comment 4 newbeewan 2009-12-11 11:54:03 UTC
I can reproduce it with the SampleWithNoProblem.odp file.

To reproduce in the slider sorter :
 - select the first slide,
 - with ctrl key pressed, select the slide with the 5 (it will deselect the first),
 - always with the ctrl key pressed, select the slide named 6, it will select
1,2,6 !
 - if you add more slide in the selection, the selection become completly
erratic (selecting lines or columns randomly)

Comment 5 Rainer Bielefeld 2009-12-11 12:26:37 UTC
Indeed, in very few cases I see that misbehaviour, sometimes randomly suddenly
several slides will be selected in time. But more than 90% of my clicks show
expected result, if I work slowly. The shorter the time between 2 clicks, the
bigger is the chance to see the problem.

Not only slide sorter is affected, I see that "wrong multiple selection" also in
'Normal View - Slide Pane' and in DRAW 'Page Pane'.

Also reproducible with "Ooo-Dev 3.2.0 multilingual version English UI WIN XP:
[OOO320m7 (Build 9461)]"!

Not reproducible with "2.4.1 Multilingual version English UI WIN XP:
[680m17(Build9310)], so "regression" (or may be I'm not fast enough to reproduce
with 2.4.1?)

The new slide sorter implementation should take care of this. Have to check that.
Comment 7 cno 2011-02-11 10:08:01 UTC
@af: I checked it for you.
(un-)selecting with Ctrl, Shift both in Slide Sorter and Slide pane, work
perfect now :-)

@cornouws: That is great to head. Thank you very much.
Comment 9 cno 2011-02-11 10:50:58 UTC
@ andré: I think the thanks belong to you ;-)
Comment 10 cosine 2011-08-05 15:00:05 UTC
I still have this problem in
LibreOffice 3.3.3
OOO330m19 (Build:301)
Ver: 3.3.3.1-3.fc15

Which version is supposed to fix it?
Comment 11 Andre 2011-10-31 17:47:02 UTC
@cosine: The new slide sorter has not (yet?) made its way into LibreOffice. The code is there for them to take it. But it is their decision of whether and when to integrate it.
