Description stx123 2009-04-08 21:17:49 UTC
This defect concerns the German help-content
[de]

"Allgemein". Warscheinlich sollte dort der Punkt "Standard" stehen.
Comment 1 Rainer Bielefeld 2009-04-09 07:10:52 UTC
I checked with "Ooo 3.1.0 RC1 multilingual version German UI WIN XP: [OOO310m9
(Build 9396)]" and can confirm the reported effect. Not a Translation issue, see
the same problem with "Ooo 3.1.0 RC1 multilingual version English UI WIN XP:
[OOO310m9 (Build 9396)]" (Help says "General" instead of "Standard".

You find the wrong text in
'Welcome to the OpenOffice.org Calc Help' -> 'Instructions for Using
OpenOffice.org Calc' -> 'Calculating With Dates and Times'

Still see the wrong text in "Ooo Dev 3.2.0 multilingual version German UI WIN
XP: [DEV300m44 (Build 9395)]"
Comment 4 Uwe Fischer 2009-04-14 09:33:00 UTC
To be fixed in English source file scalc/guide/calc_date.xhp
Comment 5 Uwe Fischer 2009-05-25 14:02:54 UTC
In English source, I see the text "The format is set to "General"", which is
correct. In German, "general" should be translated by "Standard" if that is what
you see on the Numbers tab page.
-->translation error
Comment 6 Rainer Bielefeld 2009-05-25 14:36:08 UTC
@ufi:
I can't see any reason to use the word "General" in Help, although the UI text
for that selection is "Standard", as you see in "screenshots.pdf". I still see
the difference as a mistake.

Why this issue is on owner coni? As I could see, this issue could be fixed in
help content only. So I changed it back to ufi.
On the other side OOo 3.2 is in show-stopper stage and only critical issue will
be accepted anymore. This issue will be targeted to OOo 3.3.
Comment 9 Uwe Fischer 2009-11-05 09:15:19 UTC
This still is a translation issue.
English Help is correct, German Help is not.
See attached screenshot. You must set the default locale to US English if you
want to QA the English Help.

Comment 11 Rainer Bielefeld 2009-11-05 10:15:01 UTC
@ufi
UI term "General" differs from my "screenshots2.pdf" and my current experience,
320m2 shows "Standard" in the pulldown. Has that been changed?
Comment 12 Uwe Fischer 2009-11-05 12:54:01 UTC
QA tells me that this has always been like it is today:
in English version, with en-US locale, the term is General.
in German version, with de locale, the term is Standard.
Change the locale on Tools-Options-Language Settings-Languages to English (USA)
in all list boxes.
Comment 13 Rainer Bielefeld 2009-11-05 13:28:14 UTC
> in English version, with en-US locale, the term is General

Yes, indeed, my 320m2 is an en-US version showing "Standard" in UI / dialog
'Format Cells - Numbers - Language' for many languages (incl. German and English
(Namibia, Soth Africa)), for others like all remaining English () "General". So
I agree that seems to be a translation issue.
Comment 14 thorsten.ziehm 2010-11-09 10:12:58 UTC
OOo 3.3 is nearly final. I change the target of this issue to OOo 3.x. Please
find a solution and set a correct target, if you know when a fix can be integrated.
