Description pracslipkerm 2009-03-26 00:23:03 UTC
I inserted a png file into a presentation. It was visible in edit mode and in
the preview screen of Sun Presenter Console but not visible in the slideshow
itself. When I tried to insert the file as jpeg I got a "graphics filter not
found" error and couldn't even re-insert the png file.
I closed OOo and tried to restart. OOo would not start.

After PC restart OOo opened the file ok. Inserting jpg was successful but same
problem again - image not visible in slideshow but visible everywhere else

When the "Filter not found" problem re occurs I would recommend to deinstall the
Office, download a fresh installation and do a new installation.
For the non visible graphics: please try to deactivate under Tools/options/View/
graphics output the option "use hardware acceleration". Some of the graphic
cards and their drivers have problems with this. Thanks.

Priority lowered.
Comment 4 pracslipkerm 2009-03-26 10:49:08 UTC
What info do you need?
Comment 5 wolframgarten 2009-03-26 10:51:27 UTC
Does it work for you with hardware acceleration switched off?
Comment 6 pracslipkerm 2009-03-27 02:23:23 UTC
Turning Hardware acceleration off (under OOo Tools -> Options -> View) stops the
problem. Do you know why this is the case?
Cheers
  Steve :-)

As WG already said, the "filter not found" message indicates a general problem
of the installed office. Re-installing a fresh installation may solve it.

The fact that turning off hardware acceleration makes the PNG problem go away
indicates that it is caused by the DirectX/GDI canvas. Both the edit view and
the Presenter Console do not use the DirectX/GDI canvas. This supports that
canvas as likely cause of the problem.

@pracslipkerm: Can you provide document and PNG bitmap with which you can
reproduce the bug?

File too large to upload here - approx 4Meg Picture & 9Meg ODP - any other way
to get it to you???
Comment 9 wolframgarten 2009-03-27 12:10:08 UTC
You could try to strip the file down to have a smaller size. Otherwise you could
try to mail it directly to me : wg @ openoffice.org.
