I've been running OOo 3RC1 Quickstarter 12 hours without a raise of the CPU load. It looks like there is something more (e.g a special hardware configuration) that causes this CPU load. I made some additional tests: it occures ONLY, and everytime, when you use the "Open document..." entry of the quickstarter menu. -> the select file dialog appears -> select a document and click "Open" -> CPU usage increases. It occures everytime when the "Open document" dialog is CLOSED, regardless of opening a document or cancel the dialog. Second issue: The "Open document" dialog is a very large fixed size window! It uses nearly the entire screen and can not be resized. Should I enter this issue separately? I can confirm this, same behavior on my laptop Normal ops, except if open document dialog from quickstarter will be closed regardless of opening of any document (tested odt, ods, xls and doc) or canceling the dialog. Test config: Laptop Asus Pro50RL: Win Vista SP1, Intel T5250 Tested Version: OO 3, one Beta-version, RC1 and RC2 (german translation) Also in RC3 Hi, same thing on my machine here: OO 3 final on Vista 32bit (german). It seems to be a vista-dependent issue. Haven't seen this on several other machines running OO 3.0 on XP. I'm not sure, if it's really a quickstarter issue. I will get this issue every time I use openoffice on the vista machine - even if I open documents just using windows explorer. However I will give it a try to avoid using the quickstarter. Maybe that's a kind of workaround for the problem. I would however really appreciate to get some kind of hotfix for this - if the "workaround" won't do the job version 3.0 is almost unusable on vista. I can confirm the general behaviour as nicosch described it in desc3: Opening a document via the quickstarter uses a fair amount of cpu (50% on dual core) and does not release it after closing the file-open-dialogue. All other methods of opening a file don't display this for me, and it _only_ occurs when Windows dialogues are used, i.e, the "Use OpenOffice.org dialogs" option in Tools>Options>OpenOffice.org>General is off. Observed in OOo 300m9 (Build 9358) de-DE under 32bit Vista SP1. *** Issue 93614 has been confirmed by votes. *** |
