This is about printing again.

StarOffice 5.2 had a 'feature' in which it refused to kern printer-resident 
fonts; this was supposedly to enhance wysiwygness. I can't remember whether this 
was only for type1 or (maybe) also for truetype fonts. It looks as if OpenOffice 
(1.1b2, at least under Windows 9x) still adheres to this point of view.

I would argue that if a softfont is installed on the host (whether truetype or 
type1), and this has kerning info available, than that kerning info could and 
should be used to enhance the printed appearance. There is still no need to 
download the font to the printer (if the system is so configured), only the 
relative positioning of the glyphs can be improved by taking the kerning into 
account. This is what professional applications like RagTime do.

The Issue you raised is currently 'Unconfirmed' pending review, but has not been
updated within the last 3 years. Please consider re-testing with one of the
latest versions of OOo, as the problem(s) may have already been addressed.

To grep the issues easier via "requirements" I put the issues currently lying on
my owner to the owner "requirements".
