Description grosensteel 2008-03-11 19:55:27 UTC
I cannot edit a remote file when the network goes down and then comes back
again.

Procedure:
(Setup)
1. In windows, create a mapped network drive (usually Tools->Map network drive)
2. Create a Writer document and save it to the network drive
3. Close Writer
(Now for the test)
1. Open the remote Writer file on the share drive
2. Perform some edits, click save
3. Disable the ethernet/wireless connection between your computer and the
remote share drive computer
4. Enable the ethernet connection
5. Edit the Writer file
6. Click save
7. Verify that an I/O error occurs and the file cannot be saved.

The expected behavior should be that the file is savable, no I/O error should
occur.

8. Workaround: rename file and save to share drive (this works, so why
shouldn't a save to the original filename work as well?)

Framework issue.

I have seen behaviour probably like this.

Does it occur with other apps (eg Word) or only with Writer?

As there is no data loss (you can Save as) this is probably a P3, but leaving as
P2 just now.
