Currently only changes to text can be recorded for document merging.  
Drawing changes and picture changes are not recorded.  
As a result documents with pictures or drawings can not be safely merged. 
 
Safe merging is required for subversion/cvs/.. based project management 
software. Once safe merging is possible, I will write some extensions to trac 
to handle tracking changes of openoffice documents.
