Description skelem 2005-09-01 21:53:58 UTC
1. Bring up a Writer document.
2. Open the Help window.
3. Go back to the edit window, click Insert/Field to open up the Fields window.
4. Move it off of the edit window so that you can see the edit window.
5. Move the cursor back to the main window. Fields is still there.
6. Move the cursor off of the main window, but keep it off of all OO windows,
e.g., the Help window. Fields stays there. Move the cursor back to the edit
window. Fields stays there.
7. Move the cursor over the Help window. The Fields window disappears. (I
don't know if this is good or bad. So far, I'm not passing judgement.)
8. Move the cursor back over the edit window. The Fields window reappears---on
top of the edit window!

Please have this window (and any other that pops up & disappears under strange
circumstances) reappear right where I left it! It's doubly annoying. First of
all, the window doesn't reappear where I left it, and second, it reappears right
where I want to do work!

Confirming with 2.2 on Suse 10.2 KDE - as described.

SBA->MBA: On windows, too. Strange behavior... But I managed to control it :-)
It depends WHERE you click into the help window...
(1) Click in Writer window
(2) Click on the list on the left side of help window
-> Field dlg vanishes (but only once!)
repeat (1)
repeat (2)
-> Field dlg stays, even when (1) (2) is repeated.

(A) Click in Writer window
(B) Click on a white area on the right of the help window
-> Field dialog vanishes every time (A) (B) is repeated.

Change Prio to P4, reassighed to MBA.
Adjusted summary to reflect the findings
