of @ is: Is this a defect or an enhancement? It's hard to say. On the one hand, it's adding a function that isn't in the beta. On the other hand, "Start the program without creating a new document in the process," seems like a /very/ silly function not to have, and 7/8 of new users are going to wonder what on Earth is going on when they can't find it. S @ CJ: How do you think about this additional start menu entry? This is an enhancement. This option helps more users who are experts and thus I think it does not make sense to provide an option like this in a so prominent way. What I think would help users, is to have some kind of "File Open" entry in the start menu which launches the OO.o app window with a "Start pane" opened. From there users can open existing documents, templates. etc. I'll reassign the issue to the owner Requirements OpenOffice.org Issue Tracker - Feedback Request. The Issue you raised is currently assigned to 'Requirements' pending review, but has not been updated within the last 3 years. Please consider re-testing with one of the latest versions of OOo, as the problem(s) may have already been addressed. Either use the recent stable version: http://download.openoffice.org/index.html or consider trying the new OOo 3 BETA (still in testing): http://download.openoffice.org/3.0beta/ Please report back the outcome so this Issue may be Closed or Progressed as necessary - otherwise it may be Resolved as Invalid in the future. You may also wish to search for (and note) any duplicates of this Issue that may have advanced further by checking the Issue Tracker: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/query.cgi Many thanks, Andrew Cleaning-up and Closing old Issues as part of: ~ The Grand Bug Squash, pre v3 ~ http://marketing.openoffice.org/3.0/announcementbeta.html I have been asked to update this. As I have switched to OSX, I am no longer in a position to do so. |
