This is because the symbol names are localized since long ago. If you like to stick with the english names you can use an english version or redefine the characters with names you like. However I consider this to be a request for enhancement. TL->BH: Maybe there should be an option that defines which names are to be used in the UI, the localized ones or the the programmatic (i.e. English) names as they are written to the configuration. Set to enhancement. Hello, even with a french keyboard (as I'm french), it's IMPOSSIBLE to easily type capital letters with accents !!! So I don't understand this choise... I really think that letters name should be normalized as in LaTeX... \alpha \beta \gamma \delta \epsilon \varepsilon \zeta \eta \theta \vartheta \iota \kappa \lambda \mu \nu \xi \o \pi \varpi \rho \varrho \sigma \varsigma \tau \upsilon \phi \varphi \chi \psi \omega Changing first letter to capital will change to capital greek letter. Example : \Sigma and \sigma I really think that it is more easy for EVERYONE... Thanks An alternative solution... Dmaths, a GPL add-on to OOo: http://www.dmaths.org I know DMath. But I think such a feature should be part of OOo. Could you explain me why 1 year later this enhancement is still unconfirmed ? In fact, I think this feature could be add to an other feature. I really think that LaTeX syntax is much easier than OOo Math syntax. So a good idea could be to have the opportunity of inserting natively LaTeX equations in OOo Math . My opinion : - I would also like to be able to use the Latex syntax with OO - I would also like the possibility to write "inline" mathematical formulas easily. The latex way $...$ would be perfect. |
