3 documents -xls,ppt,doc- having turkish chars and apostrophes
none
Rendering of sample.doc with Turkish fonts none

Description gorkem 2001-12-20 18:37:01 UTC
None of the Open Office programs I've downloaded so far was able
to properly handle Turkish fonts in .doc, .xls and .ppt files.

Instead of Turkish fonts (ISO 8859-9) a question mark appears.

I'm using Red Hat Linux 7.1/7.2, SuSE Linux 7.2

What happens if you re-format the characters to another font? Please comment.
Please attatch one file of each type (.doc, .xls, .ppt - or zip them together first) and
reassign it to mru@openoffice.org.
Tesekür ederim.

With Open Office 641b, I'm able to open Microsoft Word files
including turkish characters with apparently no problems, but
by only re-formatting those chars with Times and New Century
Schoolbook.

A friend of me was able to use additional Arial and Times new
roman, so it looks like it's not an issue with ooo itself,
and rather with fonts ooo includes by default.

Additionally, a word/excel/ppt document containing apostrophes
cannot be properly handled. Instead, a question mark appears
(in all fonts _except_ Charter, courier and utopia). SO this
looks like a font issue, too.

Does OOO system accept proper Turkish font patches for upcoming
releases?

This only occurs with OpenOffice. It seems that the font substitution
does not work correctly. When I manually set the Font replacement (in
the Options) for Times New Roman to Times, everthing is displayed fine.

No problem here with OOo 1.0 it renders all my Turkish fonts good
enough. I have all m$ webfonts (http://typography.micro$oft.com) packages.

This bug should be closed. It's definitely fixed.
Thanks, Ismail.
