Description damjan 2024-02-08 02:49:27 UTC
Trying to open a particular .pptx file from FOSDEM 2024:

https://fosdem.org/2024/events/attachments/fosdem-2024-2632-friend-or-foe-inside-exploring-in-process-isolation-to-maintain-memory-safety-for-unsafe-rust/slides/22228/Gulmez_Fosdem_2024_z2mAsKX.pptx

causes OpenOffice to silently fail and do nothing. It's as if you clicked "Cancel" on the Open dialog, instead of "Open".

LO opens the file successfully.

Remarkably, OpenOffice 4.0.1 opens it successfully too, so this is some kind of regression!

It's not a regression. Testing many old versions, we see the Windows build works, FreeBSD build fails. 4.0.1 worked because it was a Windows build, not because it was older.

Linux build of the latest 4.2.0 dev snapshot also opens the .pptx fine.

Why is only my FreeBSD build failing?

Latest trunk works, only a specific older version was failing (a658d2c3a5), either due to a bug that was fixed, or some build option that is different.
